About Me
Meet Sally
‘I became a positive psychology coach because I believe well-being is something we can actively cultivate and bring about, and it’s not something we have to hope turns up now and again.’
Well, it’s been quite a journey!
I was born and raised in the UK in the city of Lincoln (famous for a very steep hill and an incredible cathedral) and left school at sixteen. While I had gained a college place, I decided to get straight into work and so got a job at a large engineering company instead.
The money of course was very appreciated, and my initial major purchase was my first motorbike, and so clad in all black leather I was soon zooming around the lanes of Lincolnshire at often breakneck speed (was I a rebel? Perhaps, but only a bit!).
My early career was spent in various administrative rolls in the financial and insurance sectors and by the 90’ I had stepped up, studied and moved up – and found myself as a senior manager in the financial services sector running a large sales team, which is where I guess I first discovered Coaching.
From there I moved into training and development. I spread my wings and moved to the Middle East – living and working in Dubai for 5 years, firstly as a senior manager in financial services – before moving into executive recruitment and head hunting.
Dubai was a wonderful experience but from there I moved again – and lived and worked in Spain for a while, before moving back to the UK to continue my career in finance, banking and HR.
So having done over 30 years as ‘career girl’ I have, as they say, been around a bit! But when I look back on things it’s this background that has given me a wealth of real-life understanding that helps me in what I do now, which is to help mainly women build strength, clarity and balance in their lives.
Of course, along the way there have been quite a few ups and downs, and I have navigated redundancy, relocation, divorce and a breast cancer diagnosis in 2012, which saw me have a big re-evaluation of things (more of this in a moment). In addition, I also experienced a love of white wine that perhaps got a little bit out of hand… so I understand life can be a challenge.
The diagnosis in 2012 did understandably make me think about life and in 2013 I quit the career driven fast lane and bought a small farm (yes, a farm!) in rural Nottinghamshire, where I ran a small catering hire company as well as looking after some very rebellious alpacas, chickens, two dogs and at times quite a few cats.
Following my marriage break up in 2020 the farm was sold (a heartbreaking experience at the time) and I moved to the small Lincolnshire town where I now live, working with individuals, teams and companies to help them both personally and professionally to move forward, and to be the best version of themselves.
When I’m not coaching, I like to go walking, practice yoga and travelling (ideally incorporating the yoga and walking). Cycling for charity and raising money for Breast Cancer Now. I am also a regular at the local Women’s Institute and can often be found on the golf course trying to find my lost ball!
